Which breeds are in competition?

Afghan Hound, Azawakh, Basenji, Borzoi, Cirneco dell’Etna, Greyhound, Ibizan Hound, Italian Greyhound, Irish Wolfhound, Pervurian Inca Orchid, Pharoh Hound, Portugese Podenga, Portugese Podenga Pequena, Rhodesian Ridgeback, Scottish Deerhound, Saluki, Sloughi, Whippet.

Who is eligible?

All Best of Breed, Best of Winners and Best of Opposite Sex winners at the Santa Barbara Kennel Club Saturday and Sunday shows.  In addition, Select Dog and Select Bitch Winners from the supported and specialty breeds are also eligible.

These winners will compete together in a single class which comprises the “Sighthound Spectacular”.

Owners and handlers of these dogs should check with the Superintendent for information about the time and location of judging on Sunday.

Sighthound Spectacular Awards

First in Sighthound Spectacular – Sighthound Review offers a high gloss metal print depicting “Sighthound Spectacular” by SBKC member and artist Terry d. Chacon.

A Challenge Trophy depicting three running Greyhounds in aged bronze finish is offered by Abbe R. Shaw and Terry d. Chacon for first place.  For permanent possession, it must be won three times by the same owner.  It will be retained by the Santa Barbara Kennel Club until retired.

The Isabell J. Stoffers Memorial Challenge Trophy, an art deco edged glass on wooden base, is offered by her daughter, Christy Nelson, for first place in the Sighthound Spectacular.  For permanent possession, it must be won three time by the same owner.  It will be retained by the Santa Barbara Kennel Club until retired.
